During my holiday in Scarborough, I happened to discover my hotel was nearby fictional rural seaside town Elsinby, where they filmed 1960s medical drama The Royal which was filmed and aired between 19th January 2003 – 31st July 2011.
If you closed your eyes for two minutes, it would felt like you were in the show, as the exterior of St Aidan’s Royal Free Hospital and the surrounding roads are still preserved.
The fictional St Aidan’s Royal Free Hospital is now Red Court Apartments but the interior shots were filmed on s former maternity wing at the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bradford.
It’s well worth visiting this area on a nice day while you are on holidays here, They loads of fascinating memories of filming here.
I thoroughly enjoyed my early morning stroll to see this iconic building on my last day in Scarborough.
